Washington pro-life group buys house across from Planned Parenthood to minister to women

Bremerton, October 11 – A pro-life organization in Bremerton, Washington, has found a unique solution to countering the work of their county’s only abortion facility: they’ve purchased a property directly across the street.
Kitsap Daily News reports that the Western Washington Coalition for Life has purchased a building that sits across from the city’s Planned Parenthood abortion facility.

Inside the home, the group offers help and information to women who may feel that abortion is their only choice. “We’re not anti-abortion just because it kills the baby,” Coykendall said, “but we are all for getting life to be the choice rather than the only option being abortion across the street.” To that end, her group provides information about adoption and foster care, so that women can know the options available to them.
Though some claim that adoption shouldn’t be promoted as an alternative to abortion, Coykendall dismisses this idea. “It’s not giving up on this child, but it’s making the decision that I can’t raise this child,” she said. “I want this child to have two loving parents, a mom and a dad, that will raise this child with love.”
Coykendall stressed that the Western Washington Coalition for Life does not exist to pass judgment on anyone, but instead just wants to help. “We’re here to love everybody that comes there,” she said. “We’re here to love the workers, the girls that go in for birth control, the women that are going for abortions, the dads, the grandmas, the friends, and to give them the proof about how abortion is not the only solution.”
With Roe v. Wade overturned, Americans gather September 10 to mourn unborn victims on tenth annual Day of Remembrance
September 2, 2022 – Bremerton In the wake of Roe v. Wade being overturned, abortion has become a major issue in the 2022 midterm elections. Over a dozen states have enacted abortion bans, while other states are expanding abortion, and voters across the country are being bombarded with political ads on the abortion issue. But on Saturday, September 10, local residents will gather to remind the community that abortion is not just a political issue. They will be marking the tenth annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children with a memorial service at Noon at the House for Life, 4820 Ridgemont Dr. NE. Bremerton.
“In the 49 years that Roe v. Wade was the law of the land, more than 60 million unborn children suffered the violence of abortion,” said Laurie Coykendall, one of the organizers of the Day of Remembrance in Bremerton. “When you really stop to reflect on the real lives cut short by abortion, all the angry protests, overwrought political ads, and self-serving corporate grandstanding fade into silence. These tiny children were never born. Never learned to walk. Never had a first day of school. They were never even given names.”
Of the over 60 million victims of abortion since Roe v. Wade was handed down in 1973, only a tiny fraction have received a proper burial, at gravesites scattered throughout the country. But all of them will be mourned on September 10 during memorial services at those gravesites and dozens of other memorials set up in their honor, like the one in Bremerton.
The Day of Remembrance is being organized by three national pro-life groups—Citizens for a Pro-Life Society, Priests for Life and the Pro-Life Action League—to humanize the unborn victims of abortion by raising awareness of their burial places. The bodies of tens of thousands of aborted children have been retrieved from trash bins, landfills and other locations and buried at more than 50 gravesites across the country.
The first annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children was held in September 2013 to mark the 25th anniversary of the burial of several hundred abortion victims in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Memorial services were held at 38 burial places of abortion victims nationwide, as well as scores of other memorial sites dedicated to these children. The Day of Remembrance is now held annually in September. See also: nationaldayofremembrance.org.
